Who is Joline Andrade ?

BIOGRAPHY

" Joline Andrade (Salvador, Bahia, Brazil) is a dancer, choreographer, teacher, producer and researcher in the field of dance. She has a degree in Dance and in the Professional Dancer Course at the Federal University of Bahia. In 2011 completed the Postgraduate (Specialization) in Contemporary Studies about Dance in the same university. She has taught many workshops in different states of Brazil and participated in important international events as a dancer and/or teacher:

Among her new projects, is the “Curso de Formação em Fusion Bellydance” that has already been held in São Paulo-SP, Salvador-BA, Fortaleza-CE, Caixas do Sul-RS and Online. Joline is director of EtnoTribes/Fusion Festival, festival of contemporary ethnic fusion dance and music sponsored by the Culture Fund, as well as the Dramofone Festival, both held in Salvador-BA..."

LAWS OF LAYERING

In this class we will use feet, hands, hips, torso, head, arms and fingers (at the same time) to create advanced layering exercises. This is my favorite topic and I enjoy creating/executing unusual and crazy layers, using isolation techniques and studying anatomical planes. I will lead the class through an in-depth analysis of space as well as muscular action to help execute seemingly impossible polyrhythmic movements.

SPINS AND TURNS

A professional dancer is someone who seems to float through spins and turns. Many things can enhance the technique for executing spins: focus, balance and strength of the center of gravity. We will focus on these topics, as well as working with and around vertical alignment, learning how to project weight to create displacements, dynamic turns, slow pirouette technique and much more.

SHIMMIE SHAKE BOOM

Challenge yourself to overcome the point of muscle fatigue and thus achieve the perfect/honest shimmie. In this class we will focus on the structure of our hips and legs to perform at least 9 different forms of shimmie in a clean and effortless way. We will finish with some movements and a fun and challenging choreography.

Cut, edit, wash and rinse... Short movement phrases inherited from the Old and New School will be the raw material for the dynamic and creative composition of a short choreography.

Masks will be provided by Joline, but you’re also welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
